TERRA Solutions and Services, is seeking an Environmental Technician to support various environmental projects in Northern CA.
We are seeking an Environmental Technician with three to ten years of experience in performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, purge and sample monitoring wells; measure water levels, collect soil samples and develop wells; collect water and vapor samples from remediation systems; collect and record data from remediation treatment systems and related components (e.g., pumps, motors, transducers, flow meters, etc.); perform minor system maintenance tasks; complete required data and billing forms; mobilize and demobilize field equipment; and measure vapor concentrations with FID's, PID's and LEL meters.
The position is based in our Pleasant Hill office, but the candidate should expect regular travel to project sites throughout the Bay Area.
The candidate must have a CA driver’s license in good standing.
The job functions include:
Performing air, soil, groundwater, storm water, surface water, and treatment system sampling;
Collecting field data with portable instrumentation including PIDs, FIDs, meters, field test kits, etc.;
Mobilization and demobilization of field equipment;
Packaging samples for delivery to analytic laboratories;
Maintenance of field equipment to ensure safety and reliability;
Assisting with mechanical and electrical systems installation, and systems troubleshooting;
Performing pilot tests for various remediation technologies including, but not limited to, SVE, GWE, venting, in-situ bioremediation, etc.;
Researching/purchasing equipment/supplies, including coordination of delivery;
Coordinating field vehicle maintenance and repair;
Maintaining organization and cleanliness of shop, including safety compliance.
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma; industry-related experience preferred. Additional requirements include, but are not limited to, effective communication skills; clear and concise record-keeping; strong attention to detail; ability to work independently at job sites; and, excellent problem-solving skills.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift/move heavy equipment; perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in remote locations; ability to bend, stoop repetitively, carry up to 25 pounds for a distance of 100 yards, and lift up to 50 pounds. May require traversing uneven or steep surfaces.
Must have respiratory capacity to work wearing a respirator.
